Welcome to the interim website for the qualifications and quality assurance authority of Ireland.
The authority was announced in 2008 when the Minister for Finance outlined plans to amalgamate FETAC, HETAC, IUQB and NQAI, creating a single new agency. Dr Padraig Walsh was appointed as Chief Executive Designate of the authority and currently serves as CEO of all four agencies.
The Qualifications and Quality Assurance (Education and Training) Bill that establishes the authority was published on 17 July 2011. It is anticipated that the authority will be established in early 2012. Please view the legislation page.
